About The Project
Speech recognition in agriculture and finance for the poor is an initiative predominantly to create resources and make them available as a digital public good in the open source domain to spur research and innovation in speech recognition in nine different Indian languages in the area of agriculture and finance.
Job Summary
The research associate is expected to assist the project team in data validation, curation and speech recognition system development in Indian languages considered in this project.
Job Description

Job Responsibilities
- Scripting and programming for audio and text data cleaning
- Assist the project team in experiments related to publications
- State-of-the-art speech recognition model building separately for all Indian languages in this project
- Implement automatic approaches to assist the project team in data validation
Job Requirements
- A good background in machine learning, signal processing, statistics, applied mathematics, optimization, linear algebra
- Strong programming skills and familiarity with Python, C/C++, and with the Linux environment
- Prior experience in speech recognition
- Ability to work well as part of a team
- Good experience with Kaldi, Pytorch, or other open source machine learning platforms
Additional Requirements
- Publication record in top academic conferences and journals
- Knowledge of hidden Markov models, deep neural networks, and statistical language modeling/natural language understanding
- Great written and oral communication skills
- Experience with handling large speech datasets
